Pet Peeves

Okay honestly most of this had nothing to do with personal finance.  Sorry! I’ll be back to that next time.  But here’s my list of pet peeves:

  •                 Seriously, people, please don’t wear clothes that are about 5 sizes too small.  I really don’t need to see it all hang out.
  •                 Wearing perfume at the gym—now I’m not saying don’t spray it on in the mornings before you leave for the day or to the people who spray it on after they are done working out.  No I’m talking about the people who took a bath in it right before getting on the machine next to me.
  •                 Sucking up to the boss and lying even though I know that you told me something entirely different.  Either that or you are lying to me and I dislike that even more.
  •                 Telling me that I’m doing horrible at my life even though I’m trying to do better (okay I’m unsure if that is a pet peeve, but I’m leaving it on the list as it does bother me).
  •                 People bringing over their pet without asking if it is okay—I love my kitty and he’s part of my family but I don’t assume that it’s okay for me to bring him everywhere with me.
  •                 People hogging up the aisles in a busy supermarket to gab and then giving you a death glare when you say excuse me or try to get by them.

Okay I’m done for now.  And I know that I’ve been guilty of some of these pet peeves of mine but I annoy myself when I do them and always try to stop doing it immediately.

What are your pet peeves?

  1. I love pets but it’s just impolite not to ask first. I have two pet peeves that you haven’t listed yet:

    * When someone speeds up to pass me in traffic, only to go slower than I am once they get in front of me
    * When I’m trying to politely exit a conversation because I have to go somewhere, and the other person keeps talking like I have all day. Grr!

    • bogofdebt says:

Oh I hate both of those! I should have added those in! Or the person who speeds around me only to immediately turn right/left–they couldn’t have waited 5 more seconds? (I will admit to gleefully laughing when I see them pulled over by the cop who was just down the street)

  2. MommaStar says:

Ugh. I can’t stand the people that comes into the gym with an over powering scent that makes me want to vomit.

  3. oooh I have a ton of pet peeves. I might be the most easily annoyed person ever haha. I really don’t like it when people stand so close to me in kickboxing, esp if they came in late and there’s room in the back. Also I don’t like it when my coworker chews with his mouth open. I can hear it… ewwww.

    • Rachel says:

Oh I so dislike hearing people eat too, especially slurping cereal! At my retail job, I see people all day long wearing really tight clothes, such a peeve. And when people keep asking ridiculous questions, over and over again – that is annoying!

      • bogofdebt says:

Oh man I should have included my list of pet peeves from when I worked in a book store. My biggest was when they would ask me if I had this book in store. And that was it–no name, no author, just “this booK I want”.

    • bogofdebt says:

Oh I hate the kickboxing thing–I tend to need space as I don’t want to get kicked or kick someone and when someone crowds me I get all death glarey.

That supermarket one is one of my worst. I shop specfically at off hours because I can’t stand being in the grocery store when it’s crowded. I’m angry and tired by the end and it isn’t worth it.

I like wearing jeans four sizes too small so everyone can see my muffin top.

(I just threw up a little in my mouth as I wrote that…sorry.)

  5. Michelle says:

I agree with all of these. I get super annoyed really easy. And I’m not going to lie, when people take up too much room in aisles, I tend to get angry and push their cart far away.

  6. People walking to slow on the sidewalk, loud talkers, loud laughers, loud breathers, ok really anything loud. I also can’t stand boss suck ups. I mean really? It’s as bad as being that kid who sucks up to the teacher.

    • bogofdebt says:

I also hate when loud people go into the library. The boss suck up that I have to deal with on a daily basis really sucks becasue when he’s not in, she bad mouths him. (and he’s actually a really great boss)

  7. First, I love that actual pets made your pet peeve list. My most recent pet peeve happened on Saturday at Macy’s. The sales guy squeezed my shoulder and told me the shoes I was trying on looked good. I left.

I pretty much hate everything you’ve listed here, haha, except for the pets thing – if they’re big animals (labs, etc) then I have mega issues with that, but if it’s a small dog or even a cat then I’m all over it!

I don’t like when people stand too close to me in a lineup, or feel the need to look at EXACTLY what I’m looking at in a store so they hang over my shoulder. I shouldn’t ever have to be that close to a stranger!

    • bogofdebt says:

The pet thing didn’t bother me until I had my cat and someone brought over a medium size dog who bothered my cat–after the one time they asked and it terrorized my cat so I said that we shouldn’t do that again.

Oh and the too close thing bothers me too. I have a coworker who hangs to close so I always feel the need to get up and leave.

  9. * People who pull out in front of me to only travel 0.25 miles then turn.

    * My boss who will send me an email, then announce across the office that she sent me an email, then proceed to come and explain to me the email she just sent me!

    * My boss who used to talk endlessly about bottles of wine and how I should try this new one she just bought for only $80. (When at the time I was struggling to buy groceries for myself and my kids.)

    * People (family members) who would rather talk ABOUT me with details they made up rather than talking TO me about what the truth is.

    * Drivers who won’t get into another lane to allow traffic onto the interstate.

  10. I’ll just pick a few at random:
-Leaving things uncapped…toothpaste, salad dressing…etc. drives me crazy!
-Working with people who like to throw other people under the bus…watch out for those types, they seem to be everywhere.
    -Soggy french fries

    • bogofdebt says:

I really dislike soggy things in general–I’ve never been one of those people who can order a whole sub and eat it over the next few days. Instead, I just order my little half and try to eat that as quickly as possible. (though not getting oil or mayo on it does help–and I can just pick apart the sogginess if I have to)

  11. […] As I have been a bit stressed, I’ve decided to share some more pet peeves of mine:  (for the original pet peeves, go here) […]
